The whole entire worldwide Filipino community should be raising immortal hell!
I guess it’s national “Insult Filipinos” month in the back offices of “Hollywood”. Are they running out of minorities to belittle?
According to ABS-CBN Interactive
The “Daily Show” on September 18th in what they call a spoof. Labeled Cory Aquino a slut!
First Hollywood insults a worldwide Filipino medical community. Then this! How much uglier can it get?
Would they dare speak like this about Coretta Scott King or Jackie Onassis?
My guess is…NO…of course not! What makes Cory Aquino any different than those two American Icons? Why is it ok to insult her?
- Her husband was assassinated also!
- Her husband was great man also!
- Her children lost a father and she a husband…also!
- Just like the Kennedy and King families.
Is it ok to call her a “slut” because she’s not American? Is that it?
Listen closely Hollywood Writers!
You’ve got 24 more insulting days to go! you had better get cracking! Then hide like the little vermin that you are.
I have nothing else to say….

Unbelievable ! That is not any form of humor, in my book its
defamation and although I read that Cory was keeping the
high road and ignoring what is clearly libel (or slander upon
what definition is used).
Sometimes I wonder just how ignorant people can be, don’t
they know that she has feelings.
This is just as serious as the Don Imus incident, and I believe the responsible parties should be held fully
accountable.
God bless Cory Aquino for taking the high road.
It’s not easy to say just pray for them. It really isn’t.
Why aren’t more Filipino people raising hell about this?
The Philippine Senate is calling for a diplomatic protest over this episode. It is sad to think that there are people in the US who have access to media forgets the responsibility that goes hand in hand with free speech. The show, may be a news satyr, but its material is insulting, disrespectful and done in bad taste.
I’m thinking that the Daily Show segment was about making fun of the stereotype that women usually amount to nothing. Which is why Margaret Thatcher’s face was placed on the pic of Britney Spears, while Cory was labeled a slut. IMHO, the show is aware that no matter how successful or influential a woman becomes, there will be people who’ll always look down on them, merely because of their own misogyny.
I can understand why some (or many) people were insulted, but I’m not.
Rico,
Thanks for stopping by and reading The Fil-Am Forum Report.
I too understand the spoof and the humor behind the contrast of the others in that segment Like Margaret Thatcher’s face on Britney’s body.
I think if they wanted to parody Cory Aquino it could have been done in some other way. And not by calling her a slut.
I just remember when Ninoy Aquino was murdered and the “shake up” in the Philippines that followed.
I admired Cory Aquino for her strength and bravery during that time, considering she had a family to raise, still, and had just lost a husband to murder.
My heart went out to her then…and it still does.
