RIP : Asawa.org AKA “dead dog” forum

Just last week I commented about the opening or the re-opening of the “new and improved / reconstituted Asawa forum” .

And I closed out the post with a simple question ” why not let dead dogs lie?”

I thought, at first, that I was being too harsh on the “new” owners but as I read more and more of the goings on from several forums and their members it appeared to me that I wasn’t cruel or mean at all.

And my first impression was correct. The old Asawa.org is truly a dead dog.  And it is obviously cursed too.

I can imagine the new owners having visions of owning one of the most successful Fil-Am forums ever on the net but what he refused to admit to himself is simply this. That forum died for a reason…many reasons..if I’m being honest…but dead none the less!

And it didn’t take long for him to realize this..and he bailed out relatively fast. But without showing his penchant for ”power” and magic of the “ban the member” priviledge or the delete the post privilege. This causes me to believe that he never had the patience it takes to revive a forum ( if it can be done and I don’t think so) or the patience to handle many different personalities.

I won’t go on about all the other reasons why this forum died but if you feel the need to comment or add to the speculation feel free to.

I guess the Eulogy for this tombstone should read:

 RIP

Ashes to Ashes

Dust to Dust

if this forum weren’t dead

it would be with us!

Salamat!

In my opinion the asawa.org is the best filipino forum that i’ve ever known, there are many excellent and useful advices and point of views from different people, unfortunitely the forum were closed. im not sure what is the real reason why the admin decided to closed it.

    Lorin,

I have fond memories of Asawa.org also…I assure you.

And it served it’s place in the Fil West community ..but eventually new members and a few of the old members too started showing a side of them that wasn’t welcome..not in the real world much less the Virtual world.

They had no values worth speaking of and I’m sure you wouldn’t want to be involved with them or let a family member be involved with them either.

if you are a veteran of Asawa.org then you know what I’m talking about and I hope, judging from your previous comment that you see what I’m talking about…

These men certainly took advantage of the women that won’t stand up for themselves.

Thanks for ur point of view,

    Don

They closed down for whatever reason and that’s their business. I don’t appreciate the way they did it. It just left a lot of members high and dry looking for information but they just closed up shop.

I also don’t appreciate the fact that the owner of the forum used all of the post of the members to write a new book or update his old book. Shouldn’t we be compensated or at least give our permission to do so?

There are a lot of points that I could comment on but I will save that for another post..MAYBE.

The World of Filipinas forum has taken over Asawa.org’s seat as the best place for information. It’s well run and well moderated and the Administrator there doens’t allow a lot of BS.

If you don’t mind a rougher albeit sincere point of view BNN is also a good place to be. Just be prepared to get roughed up if you intentions or post aren’t true. Beleive me it happens

Thanks for your point of view,

    Don

    Don,

I’ve recently been to WOF & to my opinion, there’s alot drama going on there. Also, there were few WOF members who were banned because of PM’ing members to join another Fil-West forums. Why did Tim banned them? I have no idea! WOF members even putting links to the forums to their signatures & Tim deleted them & banned the members. They didn’t break the rules! I think Tim is afraid of losing his members to a lowly forum in my opinion. He should leave the links & if members want to join other forums, that’s their choice not Tim’s.

In fact, there were WOF members from way back & decided to join other forums & added the forum link to their signatures.

Other Fil-West forums like; The new Asawa International, Pinoy Info, Filipino Forum, Asawa-Spouse & even Visa Journey has no problem whatso ever to add links to their signatures. I’d rather join these forums than WOF if Tim keeps this up!

I’m not angry at WOF, I’m just angry at Tim mostly.

Thank you for taking the time to read this,

    Dan

    Dan,

I can’t speak for Hawk on his action but I do beleive he adressed some of these issues in the forum when asked about it.

I personally feel some of the forums recruited “moderators” from The World of Filipinas just so they can attract members to their particular forums.

I personally feel it’s in bad taste to be a mod in another forum and Pm’ing folks in other forums to join them…I feel it’s in very, very poor taste to recruit moderators just for that purpose.

A moderator has responsability to not only the members but the owner of the forum too…It’s not meant to be a “honor” bestowed just for the heck of it.

Those Banned mods should have just left the link in their signature and let folks come in on their own free will. That shows maturity and respect for what Tim has built…and not so much what Tim built but any forum owner. Not just Hawk.

Tim is not afraid of losing members to other forums..and to be frank with you..he is the “big dog” on the block now…and he deserves it. He worked very very hard to get that forum where it is today. This is work that few forum owners are willing to do. Their lack of commitment show in the activity, membership and tactics.

    As for these other forums;

    #1. Asawa international

    #2. Pinoy info

    #3. Asawa-spouse

They will never make it to the level…of the old Asawa forum…or the level of The world of Filipinas because they aren’t willing to do what it takes to build their memberships. I am not wishing bad on them I honestly do wish them well. As long as they are willing to be honorable and not act like it’s a global war.

Visa journey I’m sure is in a league of their own…and they will survive because their niche is broader! I applaude them.

Finally Dan I appreciate and I’m thankful for your participation here at Fil-Am forum report but if you’re angry at Tim then take it up with Tim. If you wish to take issue with Tim here in Fil-Am Forum Report then write up something and submit it to me. Fair enough.
